About Us
Mount Maunganui Badminton Club is one of the oldest Badminton clubs in the Bay of Plenty, having recently having our 70th Annual General Meeting. We started in the early 1950’s and became an Incorporated Society on May 22nd 1963. In the early days we played in a building down at the Mount that now houses the Backdoor Surf and Skate shop, but we then worked alongside other local sports clubs and the Council to fundraise and build the current Mount Sports Centre alongside Blake Park on Maunganui Road. We are currently working with the Council, and others, to build a dedicated Badminton Hall in nearby Newton Street.
The Club has always had a lot of Representative players (Juniors, Seniors, Masters, Veterans and Super-Vets) and regularly compete in the local Interclub competitions. We are affiliated to Bay of Plenty Badminton Association (www.bopbadminton.co.nz), which itself is an Affiliated Member of Badminton New Zealand (www.badminton.org.nz).

Members play on a Wednesday night from 6.00pm to 8.30pm, mid-January to Mid-December. Annual subscriptions are $150 for the full year, and Casuals can play for $8 each night. We also have a 10-trip Concession Card for $60.
Racquets are available for new players to borrow on Club nights.
